It’s a truly delicious Geisha lot
For over two decades, husband and wife duo Jesus & Rosa Barahona have been cultivating high-quality coffee at Finca Quindio, located in the heart of Huila, Colombia.
When they first acquired the land, it was partly used for cattle grazing, with some Caturra already planted. Today, they have transformed their 7 hectares into a thriving space for specialty coffee production, where they carefully grow varieties like Geisha, Caturra, Castillo, and Tabi.
In 2020, Jesus, along with his brother Jose Espinoza, began experimenting with Natural and Anaerobic processing methods. These innovative techniques have already enhanced the quality of their coffee, leading to higher prices that reflect the exceptional nature of their beans.
About this Lot:
Jesus and Rosa handpick only the ripest, red cherries with precision, ensuring every step honours the care put into their farm.
The cherries are pulped and then fermented for 20 hours before being washed in clean water.
The beans are laid out on drying beds (marquesinas) to sundry, where they are frequently turned to ensure an even, consistent drying process. This meticulous approach brings out the full complexity and character of the coffee, making each cup a true reflection of their dedication to quality.
It’s a pleasant fusion of intensity and delicacy, with a pronounced jasmine aroma, vibrant citric/orange acidity. Notes of fresh Lychee, raspberry and ripe fruits are combined with floral and sweet flavour. The finish is delightfully long, leaving behind beautiful red grape/primitivo red wine notes. 🤯🍊🌺✨🍷
