we recommend a pure traditional preparation (Usucha). However, its intense aromatic profile also pairs beautifully with the textures of plant-based milks.

Method: Whisk vigorously in an "M" shape for 30 seconds until a dense, persistent crema forms

Located in a mountainous valley, the Hoshino experiences heavy morning mists, dramatic day-to-night temperature swings, and mineral-rich volcanic soil. These conditions naturally slow down leaf growth, allowing the tea plants to concentrate natural sugars and dense chlorophyll. The result is a cup characterized by intense vibrant sweetness, zero astringency, and its signature nutty finish.

Shading Technique: Traditional Tana canopy shading for 22 days before harvest. By completely blocking out sunlight, the plants spike their L-theanine (amino acid) levels, converting potential bitterness into a rich, savory umami profile.
Milling: The leaves are de-stemmed, de-stalked into pure Tencha, and slowly ground on granite stone wheels. The mills turn at a precise speed to prevent heat friction, producing only 30 grams of ultra-fine, jade-green powder per hour.

The estate is run by Representative Toshiyuki Yamaguchi. The true backbone of their blending authority lies in his two sons, Shinya Yamaguchi and Yosuke Yamaguchi.
The 10-Dan Elite: Shinya Yamaguchi made history by becoming the youngest person ever to achieve the 10-Dan Tea Master Certification (the absolute highest rank in Japan) at just 32 years old.
In 2023, his brother Yosuke Yamaguchi also earned his 10-Dan rank. This exceptional duo makes Hoshino Seichaen one of the rarest family estates in Japan to be steered by two master brothers holding the ultimate title in tea selection.
